Provimar is founded by the Weitnauer Group (now Dufry) as the main shareholder, under the vision of duty-free director Mr. Werner Mühlemann.

Mr. Werner Mühlemann together with 3i sold 100% of the company to the Norwegian shipowner "Eitzen", through its subsidiary Eitzen Maritime Services (EMS).
Shortly afterwards Provimar changed its name to EMS Ship Supply Spain

An agreement between the Norwegian owners (EMS) and Mr. Werner Mühlemann the duty-free division of EMS Ship Supply Spain is sold to Altimex.
This operatiion included:
Supplying duty-free products to costumers wich were beore supplied by Provimar (EMS).
Transfer of 6 people from Provimar to Altimex

Mr. Werner Mühlemann retires with 37 years of a professional career and sells 100% of Altimex to Spanish family investment fund.
Mr. Fernando Sáinz de la Maza becomes the new Managing Director and CEO of the Company.
